The Mighty Plank

Hi, everybody!  We’re two weeks into the session; how’s everyone feeling?  Sore but happy, I hope?  This week, I wanted to give a shoutout to one of my favorite conditioning exercises of all time, the Mighty Plank!  My students will tell you that we do this exercise almost every week in class because it’s such […]

Creamy Pumpkin Chicken Tortilla Soup Recipe

Happy Sunday, all you beautiful Akrosphere families!  Hope everyone enjoyed their first week of session classes and isn’t too sore.  If you’re anything like me, you’re probably freezing your butts off with this cold and wet and super depressing weather.  I’ve been eating soup and drinking tea with my space heater on these past few […]

How to Be a Good Student

Raise your hand if you’re excited about the start of a new session here at Akrosphere!!!  I know I am!  As a coach, I’m thrilled to continue teaching those who I’ve been working with all year and continue to watch their progress, but I’m also really pumped to share my passion with those who are […]

New Year’s Goal Setting

Aloha from Hawaii, Akrosphere families!  I spent the holidays from the sunny shores of Oahu this year, but as my time here comes to a close, I’ve been thinking about the New Year and what that means for my upcoming year as an acrobatic professional.  Not one to believe in making New Year’s resolutions (because […]

Conditioning at Home

Hi, everybody!  Soooooo, last week’s post was all about the importance of rest, and now that your little ones have hopefully had a few days/a week off, it’s time to get their butts up and moving again!  Trust me, three weeks away from circus is a baaaaaaaaaddddddd idea – just ask anyone who’s ever taken […]

Akrosphere Circus & Aerial Arts

In conversation with someone recently, he described circus as:

“Even though circus is cool and all, it doesn’t really benefit anyone”.

WOW!  Talk about antiquated thinking!

Now, I know where he’s coming from. However, this thinking is just NOT the case..

At this time, it has been proven that doing circus and aerial arts…

  • Improves Hand-Eye Coordination, Balance, Muscular Endurance, and Cardio-Vascular Fitness,
  • Boosts self-esteem and self confidence,
  • Is athletic yet non-competitive,
  • Builds social and team skills for other activities in life,
  • Increases ability for high-quality concentration,
  • Is high-energy FUN!

Plus, research shows that children who engage in activities like aerial arts tend to do better in school!

That’s why we created our approach:

“Empowerment through Circus and Aerial Arts Training”

Sounds fancy, dunnit?

Ultimately, we are desperately passionate about all things circus AND the power of empowering children to be their best selves in all aspects of life.

Our team knows a LOT about all aspects of kids.  From early and mid childhood education to circus as therapy for autistic children to the kinesiology and muscular growth habits of kids through adults to safe training schedules for professional athletes.  (Yup…our coaching team has degrees in all that stuff and much more!)

Also, we all were/are professional circus performers and elite-level circus coaches!  (Plus a few of us are parents ourselves!)

Now we’ve ‘teamed up’ to apply all of that stuff to coaching our students and helping them to be their best selves…all through the fun of learning the aerial arts!

This is super cool for a few reasons.  You will watch your child:

  • Get excited about exercise.
  • Super-charge their own self esteem.
  • Release their best artistic and creative self.
  • Connect with exciting new friends as unique and creative as they are.
  • Fly through the air in a safe and nurturing environment.
  • BONUS:  Parents can rest easy, knowing their kids are in the best hands possible.

^^^ If all of this sounds like it’s your bag, then you’re in the right place and you’re gonna love us.
