“When your children train at Akrosphere they are not only learning the skills and beauty of circus arts, but also are being challenged in the most positively motivating way possible.” — Letha, Lizzie’s mom
Masks: As of February 28th 2022, in compliance with the current U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance, masks are optional inside our facility.
Tuition and Payment Policies
Enrollment: Due to popular demand, we now have year-round regular classes. All our students are registered until they give notice of withdrawal.
Rates
For Trial Classes: Don’t worry; many of the things on this page do not apply to you. This is simply because you are not a student in our system. Your $10 covers you under our insurance for the day. You are under no further obligation past your trial class. Please follow the dress recommendations emailed to you, and the other instructions in the email, and that’s it! Super simple!
Tuition for classes: All tuition shown online is per month. We collect tuition the 1st of each month. Tuition is non-refundable, and non-transferable. We host year-round classes, so all our students continue taking class until they give notice of withdrawal. These monthly tuitions are all-inclusive.
Please visit the class listings in your age group for exact tuition rates. Everything covered in the all-inclusive tuition is also listed there. Also please read the Payment information when you scroll down.
Circus Kids and Akronauts enjoy a discounted tuition fee. This is in lieu of participating in open gym.
Tuition is the same each month. It does not fluctuate due to holidays or unattended lessons. We base tuition fees per student / family on a “42 weeks of class / twelve month season” which we divide into equal monthly payments. This allows for some months to have 5 weeks, and some months to have 3. This is non-negotiable. All tuition and registration fees are non-refundable and non-transferable. We offer a 14-Day / 2 Class Money Back Guarantee; see policy below.
Payment
First & Last Month: All students pay the first and last month of tuition upfront for each class they register for. This means there is no charge for your final month of class with us. All tuition payments are non-refundable and non-transferable.
We accept payment via credit card through our online registration system. We automatically process all credit cards on the 1st of every month. Tuition bills are not sent out monthly.
Summer Camps: We process all credit cards for all summer camps on the 1st of June. If registering for summer camps after this date, then we process your payment within a few days of registration. Please note that there is a One-time Summer Camp $20 Registration / Equipment Upkeep fee for each student. Your tuition receipt reflects this.
Students may not skip a month and return to class without paying for the month missed. Akrosphere reserves the right to ask that students sit out of classes for delinquent accounts, until such account is paid in full.
Money Back Guarantee
We personally guarantee that your child LOVES our circus classes. If after your first class your child is not happy, we work with you to see if changes in class need to be made. If after your second class you find Akrosphere is not the right fit, we refund you the cost for any remaining unattended classes. For purposes of this Money Back Guarantee, we assume one month’s tuition covers four classes.
Simply email info@akrosphere.com prior to your two weeks ending and let us know. We do not accept cancellations through the teacher. All notices must be in writing via email through our administrative office. We then refund your money directly to your credit card on file.
Money Back Guarantee is valid for 14 days from first class attended. This includes Trial Classes. It is valid for a total of two classes. Only new, registered students are eligible for our money-back guarantee. Our money-back guarantee only applies to weekly classes. It does not apply to intensives, workshops, or camps. Money-back guarantee only applies to students withdrawing from Akrosphere within the 14-day time period. It does not apply to missed classes. Our Money Back Guarantee is only valid once per family.
Trial Classes
Akrosphere offers each prospective student one $10 trial class. These are held two Saturdays of each month from 4:30-6pm several months throughout the year. If you wish to set up a trial class, simply CLICK HERE. Should you join our AKRO-Family, we deduct the $10 from your first month’s tuition. Trial classes count toward your Money Back Guarantee limit of two classes.
Dropping a Class or Camp
Upon registration, students and their families agree that a 30 day minimum time period must elapse before they may give notice to drop from a class.
Persistence Period. Due to preparation for showcase performances, no drops or class changes may occur between October-December or March-May. Drops during this time negatively affect the rest of the students in the group performance.
To drop from a class, we require written notice to the Akrosphere studio a minimum of 30 days prior to withdrawal. Simply email info@akrosphere.com to let us know. Then we apply your final month’s payment and open the class slot to a child on our waiting list. Tuition charges continue to incur until notice is given. Teachers may not accept drop notices in class. We limit our class sizes for safety reasons. Due to this, we have a rather strict class drop policy. We consider students absent unless we receive written notice.
To drop from Camp: Before May 15th, if a registered student needs to drop from a week of camp, the refund is 100%. After May 15th, if a registered student needs to drop from a week of camp, the refund is 50%. As coaches are hired based upon the number of kids in attendance, no refund is given if a student needs to drop 1 week or less before their camp week starts. If a student is injured and needs to switch to a different week of camp, please send us a doctors note along with your request. We will move your child, space permitting. There is a $25 processing fee to switch weeks of camp without a doctors note.
Registration / Equipment Upkeep Fee
All fees are already included in the all-inclusive pricing structure.
Late Fee
We charge a $25 late fee on all accounts in arrears for ten days or more. Students with unpaid bills may not register or continue with classes until arrangements are made.
Injury Policy affecting Class Participation
A doctors note MUST be shown to all teachers providing details of injury. It should include how long the student is to remain off of injury. Please remember that unless you have a medical background or degree, your opinions on how long your child should or should not be out for an injury may be overlooked until we receive an actual note from the child’s doctor.
Upon the receipt of a doctor’s note, we will happily place your account on hold until your child is able to once again participate. This account credit must be activated within 60 days of injury. If the injury requires a longer recovery time, simply email us at info@akrosphere.com to discuss options going forward.
When injuries occur, please know that your child SHOULD still attend class to watch. This depends on how severe the injury is, of course. Students learn almost as much by watching as by doing. Please do not miss the opportunity for your child to increase their knowledge. Observing class and taking notes is a wonderful way to shorten the “catch-up time” after an injury has healed.
Class Policies
Dress Code
CLASSES:
- Most circus schools (us included) have a specific dress code in effect for safety reasons, and to remain compliant with our circus insurance company, who have good reason to require what they require.
- When a student comes without the appropriate required clothing, the student will be asked to sit out and watch. (There are NO exceptions to this.) Your student’s safety on the equipment is the most important thing to us.
- All students MUST bring a notebook and pen / pencil to ALL cirque classes. It is mandatory that you keep a training notebook. (This is true for most other circus schools as well.) We understand that the littles may not know how to write yet, but they can draw pictures and get in the practice!
- For Aerials (especially Advanced Beginner and up), you might choose to bring a fitted shirt (running shirts are good) to cover your armpits as needed.
- In our aerial cirque classes, we ask students to be barefoot. The exception to this is Trapeze, where we ask all students to bring socks (preferably ones that go up past the ankle.)
- Cyr Wheel classes: most students like to wear sneakers or the rubber soled Feiyue shoes ($20-ish at Amazon.com) which are basically an industry standard. You may go barefoot if you choose. (Jen does.) Also, please note that we do not allow street shoes to be used in class…think of them like dance shoes. You would never wear them out into daily life; street wear ruins the bottoms so they are no longer suitable to dance in, and they would get dirty, which would mess up the dance floor. Same thing for your “circus shoes”.
- Bring lots of water, and make sure to drink it in your classes. NO disposable water bottles… refillable water bottles only. We have a water fountain and a bottle filler in the lobby!. You might also want to bring a protein-rich treat for after class on your way home, to help build muscles. However, please refrain from eating in the gym.
- NO GUM. Ever.
**Birthday parties, Trial Classes, and SUMMER CAMPS: All students should wear a leotard that fully covers their back, and leggings that reach their ankles. Students may wear a form-fitting shirt or tank top if they do not own a leotard. All shirts must be tucked in.
Once again, when a student comes without the appropriate required clothing, the student will be asked to sit out and watch. (There are NO exceptions to this.) Your student’s safety on the equipment is the most important thing to us.
In addition to Dress Code
- Masks are optional for anyone entering our facility.
- Remove your jewelry. If a piercing is non-removable, tape it appropriately during the class. Small earrings are fine.
- Do not wear Zippers or Buttons or Velcro. These tear the equipment.
- We do not allow long nails on any aerial equipment. It is a safety issue. It also damages the aerial equipment.
- Please wear appropriate clothing to and from the studio. This means shoes and jackets or sweatshirts over leotards in the colder months. It also means cover-ups in the warmer months. Muscles dislike sudden temperature changes. Also, it is unhealthy to go outside in a leotard top only in colder weather. Healthy students are a priority!
- Pull your hair back and secure it out of your face into a ponytail or braids for ALL cirque classes. Hair easily wraps around the apparatuses and gets “stuck”. This is dangerous and quite painful. Please secure hair before class. We do not provide free hair ties. If a student arrives without appropriate hair, we ask the student to sit out and watch.
Bring to Class
All students NEED a notebook and pen in ALL cirque classes. It is mandatory that you keep a training notebook.
We require that all students bring a reusable water bottle; no disposable water bottles will be allowed. Make sure to drink water in your classes. You might also bring a protein-rich treat for after class on your way home. This helps build muscles. However, please refrain from eating in the gym.
For Aerials, you might choose to bring a fitted shirt to cover your armpits as needed. Spandex running shirts with sleeves are wonderful. This is recommended for Level 2 and up.
In aerial classes, we ask students to be barefoot. The exception to this is Trapeze, where we ask all students to bring socks. Socks that go up past the ankle are preferable.
For Cyr Wheel, many students like wearing the rubber soled Feiyue shoes. These are $25-ish at Amazon.com. You may go barefoot if you choose. (Jen does, and many professionals do as well.) Please note that we do not allow street shoes to be used in class. Think of them like dance shoes. You never wear them out into daily life. Street wear ruins the bottoms so they are no longer suitable to dance in. They also get dirty, which messes up the floor. Same thing for your “circus shoes”.
Observing a Class
Akrosphere does not allow anyone to observe classes inside the gym proper. Visitors may watch from the viewing window in our studio lobby. If special circumstances arise (i.e. grandparents in town for 1 week visiting from Japan), email us at info@akrosphere.com and hopefully we can accommodate a guest for part of the class. Note that we DO NOT ALLOW drop in guests to observe classes for any reason.
Arriving Late to Class
If a student arrives late to class, they must complete a coach prescribed warm-up. This happens prior to working on the apparatus. In some rare circumstances the student may be asked to sit and watch. This depends directly on how late the student is.
Make-up Classes for Absences
We allow 2 make-ups for missed classes between August-December. Also, we allow 2 make-ups for missed classes between January-May. Students receive 1 make-up for missed classes between June-July. We require students attend regularly on their appropriate day. They may not swap back and forth from week to week between two days.
Please note: Due to preparation for our showcases, no make-ups are scheduled for October-November, or March-April.
Students may make up one (1) missed class per month for each class taken.
Example 1:, a student takes Silks. They miss two Silks classes in early February. They may make up one Silks class later in February, and one in May.
Example 2: a student takes Silks and Lyra. They miss two of each class in early February. They may make up one Silks and one Lyra class in February, and one Silks and one Lyra class in May.
It is the family’s responsibility to schedule make-ups. Simply email info@akrosphere.com after the missed class to schedule your make-up. We do not allow drop-ins for make up classes.
If a student is absent, we allow them to attend the same level or lower on the same apparatus held on a different day to make up the class, space permitting. Should a Level 1 class only happen once per week, we consult with the coach to find an appropriate make-up time. Contact info@akrosphere.com for available options.
Students must make up ALL absences happening August-December by December 15th. Likewise, students must make up ALL absences in January-May by May 15th. For absences June-July, students must make up ALL absences by July 24.
Private Lessons
To schedule privates in our studio, fees must be pre-paid. We require a 48-hour notice for all cancellations. We include Supervised Open Gym for the Saturday following the private lesson. This allows the students to practice what they learn. Email info@akrosphere.com to schedule.
Open Gym
We include Supervised Open Gym with your monthly tuition for all weekly classes. A coach supervises the open gym session at all times. The exception is Circus Kids. We do not permit Circus Kids to attend Open Gym. The current open gym schedule is always available on our website.
- Students may NOT teach other students while at Open Gym. This is for insurance reasons. Akrosphere reserves the right to ask students attempting to teach others to leave.
- Students may only practice on apparatuses they take at Akrosphere. They may not work on apparatuses learned elsewhere.
- Instructors do not teach skills at open gym. It is a time when our students practice the skills they know to improve their technique so that they progress faster in class.
- Instructors have the right to ask a student to NOT perform a specific skill. This happens if the student demonstrates poor form, technique, or the like.
- Guest Instructors or Choreographers may not instruct or choreograph during open gym. Please email us at info@akrosphere.com to set up a studio rental for this type of work.
- Instructors have the right to ask a student to sit out from open gym, This happens if the student demonstrates dangerous behavior or if the student repeatedly ignores the rules of Open Gym.
- Akrosphere, it’s staff, and it’s partners are not liable for injuries that occur during Open Gym.
Non-Akrosphere students are NOT allowed to attend Open Gym at this time. Thank you for your understanding.
Safety and Health Policies
It is the parent’s duty to alert the coaches to any health conditions. This includes physical, mental, or emotional conditions. This allows us to coach your child more effectively. Safety is of the utmost importance to us. We ask each child to have a physical exam prior to participating if there are health concerns.
Do not send sick children to class.
Colds, flu, and other contagious diseases occur frequently and spread easily among children. To minimize the possibility of contagion, please keep your child at home if you observe any of the following symptoms.
Nasal discharge that is green or yellow. Complaints of ear pain. Persistent heavy cough. Severe sore throat. Eyes that are pink, burning, itching, or producing discharge. Diarrhea or vomiting. Fever.
If we observe these symptoms or other conditions deemed contagious in your child during a class, we call you and expect you to pick up your child immediately.
Fever.
When your child has a fever, please keep him/her at home until your child is fever free for 72 hours without medication. If there are any lingering signs of illness, please keep your child at home. This ensures that the illness has passed and that your child is well enough to resume class activities the following week.
We require all students to be 72-hours fever free, and 72-hours vomit free before returning to class. Please check our make-up policy for specifics on how to make up missed classes.
The safety of our students is a priority. If a student becomes injured during class, all activity stops and the incident is documented. In case of a serious injury, the we immediately call the parents and 911.
We ask that a parent or guardian wait until students enter the studio prior to leaving. We also ask that parents are present at the end of class to pick them up. Students should remain inside the building while waiting to be picked up. Akrosphere is not responsible for students leaving the studio. Students should not wait longer than 10 minutes to be picked up once class has ended.
Responsibility of Parents and Students
We believe that children’s success depends on the support of their parents or guardians. Your commitment to the process makes an enormous difference. We encourage you to be part of your child’s circus education.
Our program relies on a positive atmosphere for our faculty, our student participants, and their parents. It promises a positive learning experience for all involved. We expect cooperation between all parents. Showing respect for the other parents, students, and faculty, makes an important impression on the children. You are a role model for your child in how to interact with others.
Your child’s presence at all classes, rehearsals, and performances is imperative. The spirit of teamwork and the lesson of dedication are big parts of our school’s educational process.
Parents and teachers sometimes look at learning from different perspectives. However, they share a common goal. It is that every child receives the best possible training, both physically and mentally. Mutual respect between our faculty and our students’ parents provides the children with the ultimate care and education.
Calendar
We mostly follow the Forsyth and Fulton County school calendar for our holidays. Please consistently check our Studio Calendar for an updated listing. Note that we DO NOT observe “Monday” holidays, and we hold classes on those days. Our calendar is always available on our website.
Inclement Weather
We defer to Forsyth & Fulton County school systems for weather closures. Please download the Akrosphere App to your phone and allow push notifications to be alerted to unexpected class changes. You can also check our website homepage for inclement weather updates.

This is up to your discretion, but please understand the better they eat, the better they learn, listen, and behave. It also affects their strength and physical performance in class.
- Along those same lines, please monitor your child’s activities leading up to class time. Jumping on trampolines for 2 hours at SkyZone is fun, but when done prior to class, will affect your child’s abilities in class.

Behavior Policies
We vow to educate our students, model behaviors, and help students grow with love and respect in this program. If for any reason a student does not meet the expectations outlined above, Akrosphere enforces a 3-strike policy with regard to students misbehaving at the studio.
- Strike 1 is a warning. The student may participate in class.
- Then, Strike 2 is an in-class time-out. We ask the student to sit to the side of the classroom and observe. The coach determines the length of time for the time-out.
- Finally, Strike 3 is when we ask the student to leave the classroom to sit in the lobby until class is finished. In the case of a Strike 3, the coach arranges a time to talk to both student and parent about behavior issues.
THE THREE-CLAP RULE:
Coaches may choose to initiate a three-clap rule. This is particularly useful for re-gathering attention after a water break or after group work. The coach claps three times in a rhythm and students repeat the claps back. This signals quiet voices and attention to the coach.

Akrosphere: Training in Aerial Silk, Trapeze, Cyr Wheel, Lyra, & More
A note from Jen, “Head Monkey Wrangler” of Akrosphere Aerial & Circus Arts:
Surely, every coach at Akrosphere has been asked that almighty question in any Level 1 class, “What do you have to do to move up to Level 2?”. We get asked almost every week by our oh so eager aerial silk students. Besides learning a very comprehensive 3 page syllabus of skills vocabulary, there’s one thing missing most of the time that prevents a student from moving up: aerial silk strength. Notably, how does one get that strength? Pull-ups, baby! Obviously, no one LIKES doing them. However, they’re the Holy Grail of aerial silk conditioning, so the sooner little Jenny starts working on them at home, in class, and in Open Gym, BOOM! Her strength is going to sky rocket and send her up to Level 2 that much faster. Don’t believe me? Check out this blog post by aerial silk queen and blog diva, Laura Witwer of SassyPants Aerial Arts! She says:
As an addendum to my previous post about circus being durned hard, I wanted to address one very concrete thing you can do TODAY to begin to ramp up your aerial silk training. Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you (cue confetti canons)… the Humble Pull-Up. That’s right – hauling yourself up and down using your superty-buff arms is my number one essential training tool, and it should be a part of your regular training at least every other day.
A matter of discipline
Obviously, I’m aware that you hate pull-ups. Truly, I don’t leap out of bed every morning shrieking, “YAAAAY! I get to do some pull-ups today!!!!” either. Thing is, it doesn’t matter whether or not you hate them – you just have to do them. I’m willing to bet that one of the biggest reasons you hate them is because they’re really tough and they hurt and you stink at them. Am I right? It’s OK! Understandably, they’re tough; they hurt, and it’s OK that you stink at them. Besides, that will change. Undeniably, train them, and they will stink so, so much less. First, you’ll do one, then another, then another, until you are kickin’ some serious aerial silk tushie.
A matter of skill
Notably, a solid 75% of aerial silk work hinges on variations of the pull-up. It’s that foundational. Undoubtedly, you can crank out some reasonably solid aerial silk work without being able to do a traditional up and down, but you’re cheating yourself in a huge way. Without reservation, I can tell you this: in all my years of performance, I have NEVER worked with a professional aerial silk artist who couldn’t do a pull-up. Additionally, the very idea is absurd. In truth, if you are serious about moving beyond the realm of student or amateur, get to work. TODAY.
A matter of safety
However, it’s not just a matter of strength; it’s also a matter of aerial silk safety. Unsurprisingly, many of you have had the panic-inducing experience of getting into a bad knot on your aerial silk, or finding yourself below your trapeze or hoop with little reserves to get back up. In essence, this is where your aerial silk (or any apparatus) training – the muscle memory, the strength building, the endurance drills – is absolutely essential. Specially, it could mean the difference between a successful recovery to a safe position on your aerial silk and a nasty injury for you (or someone else if you’re working with a partner).
To conclude, be responsible and do the work, even if you hate it.
